Liz Cheney is ignoring threats by McCarthy over losing her committee assignments and is defending her joining Pelosi’s partisan select committee on the Capitol riot:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy suggested Cheney lose her committee assignments by accepting Pelosi’s appointment to the special committee.
“I don’t know in history where someone would go get their committee assignments from the speaker and expect them to have them from the conference as well,” McCarthy said.
However, Cheney appeared unfazed by the California Republican’s remarks.
“Listen, I think it’s clear to all the people on this committee that our Constitution, our duty, our dedication to the rule of law, and the peaceful transfer of power has to come above any concern about partisanship or politics,” she told reporters, later saying McCarthy had not spoken to her about losing any committee assignments.
She added, “I think that that’s crucially important. I’m honored to be on this committee. We have an obligation to have a thorough, sober investigation of what happened on Jan. 6 and the attack on the Capitol on that day.”
Cheney must be delusional, because she actually suggests Pelosi’s select committee is going to conduct “a thorough, sober investigation of what happened on Jan. 6”. Where has Cheney been 20 years? What planet has she been on? This is a witch hunt to hurt Republicans and nothing more.
How can she actually believe that these hyperpartisan Democrats are interested in the truth? Is she so blinded by her hatred of Trump that she just can’t see clearly anymore? Because by joining this select committee, she will be participating in an effort solely aimed at destroying Republicans.
It’s a good thing to condemn the riot that occurred on Jan 6th. Most, if not all Republicans do. It was a terrible day for the country. But joining this committee is just insanity. I honestly don’t know what she’s thinking. Maybe McCarthy is right, that she’s more aligned with Democrats than Republicans these days.
